At Harborn Dental, we offer you high-quality porcelain crowns to restore your damaged tooth to its original shape and size. A crown is placed over a damaged tooth to protect and strengthen the tooth structure. Porcelain crowns are used for teeth that cannot be restored with fillings or other types of restorations.
We offer several types of crowns:
Gold alloy crowns
Porcelain with gold alloy crowns
Porcelain (tooth coloured) crowns
Porcelain crowns are highly durable and last many years. But they need to be replaced eventually, after a few years, just like most dental restorations. Our porcelain dental crowns are specially designed to match the shape, size, and colour of your teeth and give you a long-lasting, beautiful smile.
The procedure of getting a crown usually requires two sittings. In your first sitting, your dentist will take several accurate impressions of your tooth. These moulds will be used to create your custom crown that perfectly matches your tooth shape, size and colour. The dentist will fit a temporary crown on your tooth till the time your new crown is fabricated by a dental laboratory. The tooth is made numb by administering local anesthesia. During this time, the dentist will remove any decay from the tooth and will shape the surface of your tooth to properly fit the crown. After this, your dentist will place the temporary crown on your tooth and will fix it with temporary cement. You will then have to check your bite to ensure a proper bite.
Once your permanent crown is ready, your second appointment will be scheduled when it will be removed. Your dentist will remove the temporary crown, clean the surface and place the custom crown carefully to ensure accurate spacing and bite.
Talk to your dentist about the care instructions after the procedure. We encourage regular dental visits to keep a check on your new crown.
